I was trying to signup for hosting but was told ...
We detect that you are accessing our service through a proxy or attempting to register multiple times. We do not allow signups through proxy services or more than once per 24 hours. If you believe this is a mistake, please contact us on our forums.
... this is an older account I didn't know I had but found out about when I tried signing up but it is my only account (as far as I know anyway) and I would like to know whats going on.

A friend of mine signed up for x10 Hosting a couple days ago and I was wondering if his signup was causing me my problems o_O I help him design, maintain and update his site and recommended that he use your services after seeing what was offered however I decided I wanted one of my own and tried signing up. He signed up from my home but he is back in Minnesota now, is there anything we can do to resolve this so I can try out the hosting for myself?

Thanks,
Doc

Hello,

Are you accessing the service through a proxy?
It should clear in 24 hours' time. Please wait and try again then.

Thanks.

No was not using a proxy ... I'll wait but I figured the issue was related to his account since he was visiting me when he signed up for his account. I'm not even sure if he used his laptop or did it with my PC but it would show the same IP and I thought that might be the problem and posted expecting that to be the answer he was signed up at least 3 days before I tried making me an account so the 24 hour thing shouldn't have been the problem. I thought I might need to have him sign up for me at his house lol so the IP's would be different or sign into his account from there to tack his IP on instead of mine :p

If its IP related though it might be resolved my ISP fried my IP this morning and gave me a new one o_O kinda defeats the purpose of having a static IP though o_O

Anyway, thanks,

Someone else said that this message was shown because he picked a password that was over 16 letters long, so that might be your issue (although if it is the issue, that is a very non-helpful error message).

Otherwise, try using a different computer; some ISPs like Verizon FiOS (at least, I think it's them) seem to trigger the proxy check incorrectly

Issue has been resolved thank you for all the support, should I open another question to ask if I'm able to continue helping my friend or if I need to teach him how to use the control panel. He's not tech savvy but is is a great artist I've talked him into putting his stuff online and learning how to add content but he's not familiar ftp or running a site yet. I do have him taken care of until he needs to add or remove content though at least this month. Basically will it create problems for me and him if I log into his account to fix things?

Hello,

It shouldn't do, as long as one account is registered as his and one registered as yours.

Thanks.
