Change plan to ad-free and .htaccess the root?

Is it ok if I change my account type to an ad-free one and then add a .htaccess to the root dir.

That would stop anyone without a username and pass coming on. I am putting some school work on and the only people that will be able to see is me and my IT teacher.

Is that ok? Even though staff cant get on to check the ads, if im ad free that shouldnt be a problem, right?

Would a staff member even come onto my site if it was ad-free? If so what would they do upon a username and password prompt?

And x10 staff will still need a username password to login.
