Hi all, just a quick question, where do you buy RAM? I'm looking for a good old basic 512mb pc133 168 pin low density.

I buy from pccanada.com

I find their prices excellent and they deliver to me the day after I place an order. That's only since I live so close though. I also think they only ship in Canada.

I've found NewEgg and TigerDirect to give some really cheap RAM cards. It's where I buy a lot of my computer equipment, as stuff is cheap there. $20 for 1GB of laptop RAM, not bad.

That is a good deal. Now if I knew how to install it. *laughs* Then again, need to find out how to know what type of RAM I need to buy ... I want to upgrade what is in my laptop and my desktop. ( Planning to turn my desktop into a server )

Check dealcatcher.com for Newegg-specific deals. Just make sure you know exactly what type of RAM you need.

Sounds good guys, thanks for the ideas. I'm Canadian so I might buy from PCCanada.

Personally, I would go with newegg.com. I have bought a few replacement laptop parts, and I must say they their processing and shipping processs was executed extremely fast.

One of the benefits of Google or building your own machine, is that you'll know exactly what kind of card it takes!

As for installing it, all you have to do is open the cover and slide the card into a free RAM slot, snap it in, put the cover back on then power the computer on. It's that easy.

Wouldn't that be considered installing it? Sorry, I just noticed it.

I usually buy from newegg.com or I just go down to one of the local computer stores and buy from there. I don't upgrade my RAM that much but when I do, it's one of those two options.
