Some people are cheating the only restriction to x10hosting, check out the link: <removed>

I personally developed a hidden frame login for my homepage before I got got into posting. Think a CAPTCHA should be made to login?

No, no captchas. Then the rest of us x10 forum members would suffer. We'd all have to manually login every time. :(

Is there any addon-detector code x10 could implement to ban any firefox users that have that addon installed?

There are a ton of ways around the login system. I won't explain them here, for obvious reasons ;)

Really though, most people just login and close the window anyways. I think the only way to "fix" the system would be to set a post count system (eg, 1 post per 2 weeks). It's a shame these people lose out on such a great community here on the forum, but it's their loss :)

Maybe you should remove the link to the plugin, to discourage others from using it. I see Bryon is looking at the page (Hi Bryon!), so the staff are now aware of the issue ;)

These same people who try to get around logging in once every 2 weeks, are probably the same people who have been coming to the forums & whining that their sites are now not working the way they expect them to.

More fool them, for not bothering to at least keep up to date with the News section.

Corey beat me to removing the link, and I thought he didn't visit the other parts of the forum :/

Another way to "fix" the system, which I have already seen used by other hosts, is to buy your free hosting account with a certain amount of credits accumulated by posting. That should not disrupt the legitimate users and keep the number of accounts down. Just an idea.

I bet when Corey wants to remain incognito, he either logs out first, or logs in using another ID to browse the forums with!

If I understood you correctly......

The problem is that it would encourage pointless, spammy posts.

Why can't people just buy the inactivity timer thingy if they want to avoid logging in for a year? It only costs ~couple of $ for 1 year. I'd like to give exact details & a link to it, for all those people who didn't realise it exists - but I can't find it! I still think that feature is one of X10's best kept secrets. Shouldn't it be better publicised, or would X10 rather people didn't purchase it? :dunno:

(at the corner of this post) & make me :) -it costs you nothing!

If I've traded services/credits with you, please remember to leave iTrader Feedback. Thanks.

It would detour many people if X10 started advertising their premium services the way Rapidshare does. Many of X10's customers come from how well they treat their free members.

I think you are right, that would be **** for the moderators here. Oh well, I guess there is no easy solution, but maybe the staff will come up with a way to kill that addon.

I don't know if it's possible, barring changing the login system. But again, I can think of a few ways around it still.

The new cPanel includes a shortcut to purchase the inactivity timer

True, but I bet most people can't. Most people on X10 are just starting out web design. There is just no practical way to do it.

Truth is, I have this site set as my homepage, so that when I use a specific comp in my home it's all ready and set to go, I would also agree no captha's please.

If staff want to do something about that Firefox addon cheat, might I suggest they look for its creator, Chris Malone, on their database of X10 members. You never know, he may just be there! :)
