chmod

Hi
I need to change permissions on some files on my server, but chmod is not working?

How were you trying to do it?

1. Go into your account and go to the files and folders you need to CHMOD.
2. Right click and select CHMOD. (or something like that)
3. Set it

Well for a more detailed example this is what you do you would login into your cPanel.

Now what you'll do is select File manage once inside the file manage you look for that specific file or file you want to CHMOD.

Now click on the file name and folder name and on the far right you should see a few choices that span on from

Delete file/folder
Rename file/folder
Change Permission File/Folder

Your going to click on change permission and then it shoudl lead you to where you would set your permission for the user, group and world. That hsould help you out.

You could do it all very quickly through FTP. Thats how I do it. Use FLASHFXP Or something(www.download.com)

And once you have logged in right click it->attributes->It should come up with a little box. For example cutenews asks you to change the numbers on the LEFT ONLY.You can also set it to read only or Public using ftp.
I would reccommend it when trying to CHMOD
