CMS Automatic updates

I can't use the automatic update feature of wordpress and SMF, I used to do it before summer but now I get errors with the mysql database or it only give me a blank page.

Updates to large scripts like these can be quite a long process and the server may kill the script before it is complete, giving you either the blank page or a 500 error. If possible, try doing the update manually.
