Hope I am doing the right thing posting a new subject :)
Anyway I am new to x10 and well I am not sure how to make my site do i have to download something to write up the site ?
I read somewhere already how to upload your site onto here but just not sure what i should use to make my site. ?
Also the main reason I came to x10 was that our previous gaming team site didn't allow you to edit html and I was forever wanting things that only work with PHP nuke.
So can this site have php nuke ? And how do i make my site with it ?

I am so ashamed coming here and not knowing anything about how this type of site works imn used to sites like Freewebs & moonfruit also I do know a little about html thanks to myspace.
Also i am a quick learner but i need somewhere to start & imn just freaking out because you only have 1 week to get my site up with the ads in the right spot :-8
Edit:
Ok so I have worked a little bit more out just then.
Now i tried to install php nuke but what directory do i need to choose and do i need to do anything else in the pre installation that I should know about ?

Thanks anyone that is willing to help if i have credits (not sure what they are yet ) ill give some

You should put it in either the public_html folder. As for making a site you can just code it and do all the graphics on your computer save it as a .html or .php or .whatever and then upload it. There's always the option of getting an already made template from websites, too.

Hi, you can search for sites that can give you templates on Google!
Templates are ready made website designs where you can edit it's content!
x10 provides many facilities for you - approx. all the ones that you will need to create a website.
You can download a template and edit it in Ms FrontPage - The easiest website editor and maker out there.
You may have got it with your office pack, if not- arrange for ms office with frontpage from anywhere.
FrontPage XP is the best version in my openion.
If you want to create a website on gaming, you can ask me for world class templates!
I have a full pack but still i don't know why, i created the template of my website on my own!
You can can click on my name above this post and click on something like - send personal message and you can ask for one.
I will give it to you for free!

I know after coming from the field of gaming, how you feel like being a newbie and the journey from this newbie to success is very educative and interesting!
You can visit my site here http://ashwin.pcriot.com
-> i have t buy a new domain name eg : dudesandfools.com for my website!

You sound very uncertain about your thinking.
I would suggest you to go to cPanel and use Fantastico.
As always, we are there !

And, yes.. you can have PHPNUKE. I run it, or used to. It's simple. Just read the manual, and go from there. you'll be up in no time.

You will notice a Donate/Pay button on the right side of the posts. You can donate credits to anyone from there.

You just need to upload all the files you need. It depends how organised you are as to whether use use folders or not, (I strongly recommend you do). You may want to have one folder for images etc.

Thanks Tech ash :)
ok But how can I upload folders ?
A theme i was trying to use has folders full of files and it would take ages to upload and organize them back into there folder.
Like when i go to upload it only lets me choose files WTF :-(

Also quickly - yes i kinda figured that about the donating credits before but it would just take me to a blank pages so it confused me :-(
But it works now :) though how easy is it for me to get more credits like say posting and stuff ? just don't wanna give ALL my credits out and not be able to get them back if that makes sense :~8

& again thanks everyone you are so helpful here :)

The quickest way to upload large amounts of files (In my opinion) is to use FTP. This requires you to download and install a free program (SmartFTP or Filezilla are two good ones), then enter you account details into this program, and you will be able to upload hundreds of files.
The settings can be found in the cPanel.

You could also put all the files you want to upload into a zip archive and upload that using the file manger (It has an option for extracting files I believe).

I'm not sure about how many credits you get for posting etc. But there are plenty of ways to get them. One way is to put a link to X10 on your website, you will get points for every person who clicks on it and even more if they signup (Find out how by going to http://forums.x10hosting.com/referrals.php).

http://uwbc.pcriot.com

Looking at the index of your site, you have put some files in a second public_html folder. The files should not be in this folder you need to move them up a directory.

Also you need a index.php file, You don't seem to have one.

If you need any more help, I'll be happy to assist.

OK I done that Now i get a blank page with a little info on the theme imn guessing i have to write in the index.php or something to make up the site ?
There isn't a way i can get a already made basic site from somewhere ?
Damn is there a way to make the site without knowing how to code html/php-nuke and not cost $$$

There should be an index.php file that came with php-nuke.

OK I found my index.php so i need both php & html indexes ?
I actually changed my layout again now my page looks more like a website but i think the layout is a html one not php.
Also in Fantastico it says my nuke version is unknown & that any update has to be done manually < Is that normal ?

Wow it krazed that imn not getting anywhere without people answering me
Thank you :) imn slowly getting there :)

If you don't want the index.html you can delete it, but the index.php must be in the public_html folder for your website to work. About the nuke version, I'm not too sure but I feel your nuke version is not supported by cPanel.

The ads need to be on all the pages, you might find something in the link below.

Cheerz but I have been trying to do that but without success I just can't find what i am supposed to in my file manager like it states in the tutorial.
I am thinking that maybe i can get rid of php nuke and just use html and put the ad in as its my first site I have ever done Code wise normally just had site with sitemakers and no way to play with code.
But if i use html do i have to add any more code than what the ad has like you just stick in between the open & close tag things Don't ya.

Thanks & sorry for coming on this site with no true knowledge of building sites like this

Don't worry, That's what the Forums are for, helping other users.

If you are really stuck with PHPnuke, may I suggest deleting everything from you public_html folder (Create a backup first), then start again with a clean default install i.e. only upload the files that came with PHPnuke (No custom themes etc.). The logic behind this is that then you will have a site that should work, then you can customise it from there. This way should be easier than trying to get everything working.

If you don't fancy going down this route then maybe HTML is the best option for you. Although coding a site form scratch takes a lot more effort than using a CMS.
