Okay, I just joined and I changed my url to www.acidgfx.org, and it doesn't work, but why?

If you have a free account, you can't change your site to to http://acidgfx.org, it must be http://sitename.domain.com or .net

I am not sure where you heard that from, but that isn't quite correct.

Acidgfx, have you made sure your domain is pointed to x10's servers ( ns1.x10hosting.com / ns2.x10hosting.com ) ...

acidgfx.org isn't your domain, it's free to register.
You can only change your subdomain to a domain if you own it.

You'll have to login to: http://x10hosting.com/account and change your domain back to an x10hosting subdomain if you want to view your website.

you have to use a subdomain, which is obtained when you register for an actual X10hosting.com account that includes cPanel.
