Constant Error 429 Too many requests error

I have a MyBB forum that was recently attacked with a DDoS or something similar, and now that the attacking appears to have stopped, whenever I open it up, sometimes it'll load, but sometimes the page doesn't load properly or it will go to an error page saying Error 429 Too many requests. How do I fix this?

Hi pptosnx1,

As a result of an excessively large number of requests your website has received recently, we added a temporary rate limit to your website. We have now removed the rate limit, and you should no longer see the 429 error messages.
