I keep removing files while I make changes to my Wordpress site, but I still keep running out space and my plugin installations break left and right, which makes it impossible to get anything do. Is there anything else I can do on my end? And would this behavior go away if I had a paid account? I simply need to make some cosmetic changes.

I would like to either know how to clear out temp files accumulated from these plugin installs (many of which have bombed) and/or humbly beg for an upgrade, if I am entitled. Please let me know what I have to do.

Thanks,
Chris

Premium accounts have "Unlimited" disk space, so yes, a paid would cause this behavior to go away. Read Terms of Service for "Unlimited" definition.

Download your images to your computer, use a program such as FileOptimizer or service such as Kraken.io to optimize your images and re-upload them. This should free up some space.

This is really frustrating because I have not added any content. At most, my site shouldn't be consuming more than 300 MB. Something keeps using up the space, though. Since I haven't found any way within File Manager to tell me how my space is being allocated, I now have to download my entire website and start over from scratch. If that will even work. Needless to say, it would be really nice to be able to know within cPanel how close I was to the 512 MB limit when dealing with an issue like this.

You can view your disk space usage from the cPanel x3 theme (it's in the same group as File Manager).

Is it found under FTP Users? For disk usage there, it shows 420 MB in use. However, when I go to upload a file in File Manager it shows -928 KB for max allowable upload.
