Hi...

My post that I made about 2 hours ago disappeared....

Anyway.. I signed up yesterday for a fee account bobgalka.x10hosting.com

I created a domain at smartdots.com bobgalka.net.tc.

I added my domain in the account panel. I also added the bobgalka.x10hosting.com in my smartdots account to point back here.

That all seemed to go ok.

Today I tried to get to my cPanel for the first time, but cannot get past the user/pw panel.

Is the cPanel user/pw the same as my account user/pw?

Also since I added my own domain to the account panel do I still use http://bobgalka.x10hosting.com:2082 to get there? or should it be bobgalka.net.tc:2082?

Thanks for any help

bob

You will have the cPanel username and password in the Welcome mail you received from x10. It is the one you created when you signed up for your hosting account.

Yea that's what I thought, and that is what I am using.

I just tried again and this is still the situation that I have.

http://bobgalka.net.tc:2082 just gets me a not valid url screen.
http://bobgalka.x10hosting.com:2082 takes me to the user/pw prompt but will not accept my user/pw... ( the same one that gets me into my account panel.

Is there a way to reset my id and pw for the cPanel?

Please help

The username and password to login to your AMP are your FORUM details.
The username and password to login to your cPanel, are your HOSTING details, the one you chose when you signed up at: http://x10hosting.com/hosting

Where have you pointed your domain? It's not pointing to the correct place.
If you're delegating the DNS, you should point it to x10hosting nameservers: ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com
If you're setting an A record, it should be pointing to: 74.86.133.24.

See if you can login by: http://74.86.116.187:2082/

Thanks fedlerner...

That allowed me to enter the cPanel..

Now how do I correct the problem that bobgalka.net.tc doesn't seem to be equal to 74.86.116.187?

While configuring the cPanel it caused a problem when creating the Web Folder...

thanks again for you help.

Bob
Edit:
Here is more information...

On my hosting account panel it says that my domain is
bobgalka.net.tc (which is correct)
But in my cPanel information it says that my domain is
bobgalka.net.tc.x10hosting.com (which I am guessing is incorrect)

How do I correct this?

It also shows up in my ftp account. So I need to fix that as well.

HELP (pretty please)

Bob

I've fixed the issue with your primary domain, and it's now set to: bobgalka.net.tc
Check if it's working now.

Where did you get that domain? Adding the port doesn't work for me, it doesn't look like it supports it.

Hey Corey....

It is a free domain from smartdots.com

I can PM my sign in information there if it will help solve my problem.

Thanks

You can't use the port 2082 at the end of the domain because they parse the information before displaying it(How the ads are displayed on top of the page).

So you'll have to use the server link provided by Fedlerner earlier.

Corey... thanks

I guess I can live with that, if that is the only thing it will impact.

I am having trouble getting an FTP connection using SmartFTP with the address bobgalka.net.tc using port 21. It will not connect at all.

I tried using 74.86.116.187 and port 21 and it connects.. accepts my user id, but fails on the password with a 530 login aurhorization failed. I double checked the password and that is not the problem.

Oh and yes I did configure an FTP account in the cpanel.

Is the ip address different for the FTP account? Is there somewhere that I can look a a log for my ftp account access?

As for the domain... is there another FREE domain service that you could recommend?

Thanks again for all your help.

When connection to FTP use the following IP 74.86.116.187.
To connect by FTP, connect with your cPanel username and password.
You can also connect with an FTP account created from cPanel. When you create an FTP account from cPanel, for example: bob, the username won't be bob, it will be: bob@bobgalka.net.tc in your case.
Each FTP account you create will be: USERNAMECREATED@bobgalka.net.tc

Hey fedlerner...

Thanks... I guess I missed that part about the full username.. that worked..
BTW I changed my domain back to x10hosting just to eliminate the confusion while I figure out how to write my page and get it hosted. So now my cPanel problem went away.

HOWEVER ;O) I can't get WebDisk to work.. Since I am connecting to the web via a wireless connection to a system that I don't have access to I am guessing that is the problem. I did configure 2077 and 2078 on McAfee's firewall...(windows firewall is disabled).

Not a major problem now that I have FTP working.

Thanks everyone for all you support and patience.

That's great.
WebDisk should be working correctly. Have you used the installation/configuration created by cPanel?
