I was trying to to connect to Cpanel under http://subdomain.x10hosting.com:2082/login/ however the login failed. Please advise.

Login to http://x10hosting.com/panel.php with forums username and password and see what you got..

Were you using your Forum username/password or your cPanel username/password? They are different (usually). And are you sure you spelled your subdomain correctly (usually easier to use your server name (boru in your case)?
