I am very new to web hosting and have just started on your free hosting plan and I am thinking of upgrading my account to the premium hosting account.
From what I read of your terms it said that if I upgrade to one of your paid hosting plans my account would not be deleted if it became inactive as it would be on the free plan is that right?

Also if I upgrade to the paid plan I would like my own custom domain. How would I go about this? would I be able to buy my domain directly from you or do I already have to have a domain with another domain host land map it to your servers?

When I upgrade my account do I fill in the custom domain I want and you set it up for me or do I have to do that myself?

Correct, there's no inactivity clause to premium hosting, as long as you pay the bills the account will remain active.

You will have the option to buy a domain during the signup (or transfer one if you already got a domain you want to use), the domain you chose here would be set as the accounts main domain automatically, you would however need to adjust any scripts you have to properly reflect the new domain.

When you go about and upgrade to premium hosting, you got a few plans to chose from the longer period you pay for up front the more value you get for the money, those where you pre-pay for 2 or 3 years does include a free custom domain, for the others the domain would be an additional, yearly, fee.

You can see the plan options for premium hosting at: http://x10premium.com/plans

Since I assume you want to transfer any and all files/databases you have on your current free account make sure you select the option "Transfer existing x10Hosting Account" and enter your current username and we'll handle the migration of files and database automatically.

Thank you for your reply Anna. But no I don't have any scrips at the moment. Though I have tried uploading a few in my C Panel. I have tried uploading Phpbb,My BB and Wordpress and I have found out they are easy to install. As it seems you have the one click install option.

As I said I am very new to webhosting,I have limited experience so I am not very tech.So I don't know how to do anything complicated. But I don't have any of those scripts installed on my URL now. So I was just testing my settings out as I am trying to learn how to use my C Panel. But many of the settings I don't know how to use.

As I don't have a custom domain I want to buy one from you during my upgrade set up. In the upgrade settings I saw an option saying register a new domain, but that was just the free domain which I don't want. Or do I type in my chosen domain example My site.Com there? I want a custom domain so what exactly do I need to do and select during the upgrade, when I fill out the online form?

Here's a pic of the top part of the registration form, make sure you chose the third option "Register New Domain" (highlighted in the pic). That's the option that lets you register a custom domain.

Yes I saw your screenshot Anna that's the option I saw in the upgrade. So in there I just type in whatever name I want for my domain( example My sitename.com or if I want My site.net.) And then it will just register it all for me as long as the domain name I have chosen is available? How long does it take before my custom domain starts working? That it is visible on the web?

once you fill out that form the domain will be registered and set up for you (assuming it is available of course), how long it takes to start working and become visible on the web depends on propagation, but usually within the hour.

However if you opt for transfer of files and databases there may be a little delay, not sure exactly on that process but it is supposed to be at least to some extent automated last I heard.

Thank you for explaining it all to me Anna. I have not yet decided what I want to do yet that is if to upgrade or not. As I am still thinking about it. But now at least I know the options that are open to me. Thank you for your help.
