Custome Error pages

Ok i was wondering,
everyone says that custom error pages are not allwoed on free accounts.
But i was messing around and i found that if you edit the .htacces file you can indeed set custom error pages.
id just like to know the truth.

If it is allowed do you have to have ads on your error pages

It is not allowed, Those pages, the default ones help pay for the service. By doing your own, you're taking money away from x10. Easiest way is not to have broken links. I'd suggest you remove the custom ones.

Yes I discovered this when I migrated an old web site which had custom error pages. I didn't see any Ts&Cs that disallowed them, but then I asked on the forum, just to check. And the answer is no! So I took them down, hopefully nobody will penalise me for having them up for a couple of days a while back, as I didn't know.

how do they help pay for the service if the default error mesages is just a bunch of apache generated jargon.

Usually it's one x10 designed to be shown. It's not working right now, but it has ads on it which supports x10

We use the 404s for additional income. Pays for 1/3 of one server monthly!

What if letting us change the text to a more personalized one if we want? Letting all ads and thing stay. But that would probably be hard to make.
