It seems like it has to be 8 characters or more (not sure what the max limit is). Special characters are OK, but I think that I had a user with a space in it that didn't work right, but I'm not sure if that was a DirectAdmin problem or an X10 problem. Their website doesn't mention anything about there being an issue.
