My current domain will expire soon and I'm currently building a new one with a different domain name. Since the "change main domain" is not working currently and most of my details have changed, I would like to have this account deleted so I can start afresh with the new domain. If you are able to change the details in question without deleting then that would be ok too.

There is no need of new account. You can change the domain on your own, If it is primary domain then goto account panel http://x10hosting.com/control
if it is parked or addon domain then you can change in cpanel
By the way the servers are under move now, it may cause some downtime so try after some time. check the thread about server move http://x10hosting.com/forums/news-announcements/115601-updates-upgrades-etc.html
