Hi,

Pretty new to this, I've uploaded some website content but I've decided I dont want it. I'm now looking to delete all the files related to the site and start again. I'm not sure which files to delete, is it possible for someone to do it for me?

If so, what information do you need?

Thanks

hi pwack

if you want to start clean and can not remember what you ve uploaded and where a good way would be to request to close your account and apply for a new one

hope this helped you a little ;-)

Edit: PS if you would like to do it this way ....the correct link to use is:

Joshua203, your advice seems a bit over-the-top, & I'm sure staff here have better things to do with their time at the moment (during the server upgrades) than to delete & create new accounts for people, simply because they want to remove their files.

Can't someone here just advise pwack09 what folders/files to leave in their account, with everything else being deletable?

I would do myself, but I'm not too hot on remembering what should be in a blank account.

directory: _private, _vti_bin, _vti_cnf, _vti_log, _vti_pvt, _vti_txt, cgi-bin
file: should be index.htm (should be one more, i dont remember, but shouldn't be important, index.htm could be deleted as well, since you probably gonna make a new one anyway.)

delete the rest.

I'm not insulting your intelligence if you've already been using it. Firefox+FireFTP, it is really easy to highlight all files and folders you want to delete, and click delete in content menu, very simple and fast. beware, no undo button :), make sure you select the right ones.

Another tip is that, once you have restored your site to its original empty/blank state, for you to back it up to a zip file or similar.

That way you can play around with the website as much as you want, & if you decide to delete it again in future it will be a simple matter of deleting everything & just restoring your zip file.

it might be a bit over the top but it is efficient because you are 100% sure you are back to default without having some stranger messing in your account (wich was the original request)

it now looks like we are kinda guessing what was there to begin with, i do not remember either.... in addition to what is posted allready by Inakuma .... .htaccess
