Went over to http://social.dnsmadeeasy.com/blog/registrar-or-dns-hosting-the-difference-explained/ and they said "Many businesses choose to let their web hosting company handle their DNS hosting too, but, because DNS can have an impact on the performance and availability of a site, it’s important to note that DNS hosting is not the same as web hosting, and the two can be provided by different companies. Dedicated DNS hosting companies often have faster and more reliable infrastructure in place than web hosting companies."

Got more confused. Do we need to get DNS hosting even after getting x10hosting?

When it comes to X10's free hosting, you can only use their name servers when adding a domain in cPanel for verification. Most free hosts do the same.
You don't really need to use a separate DNS service.
One that you may end up using without noticing however is a CDN such as Cloudflare and that's because the domain would point to them and they hold the DNS zone that was downloaded from your domain. Of course if you were to use a CDN then you'll need to use their DNS service.

If you were to get something like a VPS then there's more likelihood of you picking an external one than the one that's offered with the VPS.

back in time when that post was made (i.e. JULY 8, 2013) that might have been true for some host - today you would see little - if any - difference

Do we need to get DNS hosting even after getting x10hosting?
IMO - no - you receive free DNS hosting with your x10hosting account
