Hi

Im trying to setup my DNS to point to herd.X10host.com

At the moment im on 123-reg for the domain, with NS as 123-reg and MX emails pointing to microsoft email hosting.

i tried to point to A records to your named server IPs, this didn't work.
so i tried the IP where my site is hosted on xo2.x10hosting.com 198.91.81.4

I also tried to adding a parked domain on the account but that failed..

how do i point my domain to your hosting? i want to keep the NS as 123-reg

Hi,

Unfortunately, you would need to change your domain's nameservers to use it at x10Hosting. This is for security reasons, since it means we can verify you are the domain owner. After changing your nameservers, you can change your DNS entries (such as MX records) from x10Hosting's cPanel, rather than from 123-reg, from the "MX Entries" section and the "Advanced DNS Editor".

Our nameservers are ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com.

Thank you,

Thanks for your reply.
Does this all work on the free account?

Doesn't x10hosting offer use a verification via TXT/SPF record??
What is the uptime on your named servers?

Hi,

Yes, this will work for a free hosting account. We can't offer verification through TXT/SPF record, since this is a limitation in cPanel (the control panel software we use).

What is the uptime on your named servers?
I don't have the numbers for our nameservers' uptime, but I don't recall any major outages/problems with our nameservers.

Thank you,

Hi,

Our nameservers are ns1.x10hosting.com (162.159.24.224) and ns2.x10hosting.com (162.159.25.177), which will let you park your domain. :)

where can i change the MX records?
It looks like you are using the x10Hosting Basic theme. To change MX records, you would need to switch to the cPanel x3 theme (which has some more advanced features). Please choose "Switch Theme" in the top right, and choose "Switch to cPanel x3". You might need to sign in again.

Once you are in cPanel x3, there is an icon for "MX Entry" on the homepage (under "Mail"). ;)

Thank you,

And ive seen other IPs when searching the forums
nameserver's IP address' can and do change - is better not to add the IP address to the DNS records

what was posted above is the current IP address' for x10hosting's nameservers
you can lookup the current IP address for the nameserver's domain name using the [ Whois Lookup ] at --> [ http://myip.ms/ ]
