Hi, I have a hosting account here at secretss.x10hosting.com and I purchased a domain name secretss.net elsewhere.

My domain registration is still pending and I cannot edit my nameservers. In the meantime I went to my account control panel and clicked on Update Account, and noticed a field for "main site domain". I changed it to secretss.net and after that when I tried to access secretss.x10hosting.com, it says the domain is available and the viewer can go ahead and register it on x10hosting. But I am using secretss, so I don't understand why it should be available.

Am I just being troublesome by editing the "main site domain"? Is it enough just to change the name servers at my registrar's control panel? And so I should change the main site domain back to secretss.x10hosting.com?

Thank you very much.

Hello,

Wehn you change your main domain, the old domain (secretss.x10hosting.com) its free again, you only have it if its your main domain but when you change your main domain to your own, you lost it.
Now you need to point the DNS from your domain provier to ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com to point your domain (secretss.net) to x10 :)

Change your domain name back to secretss.x10hosting.com. That way noone else can take it.

When your domain registration is complete, use your registrar to point DNS to x10's nameservers.

Then go to cPanel and add secretss.net as a parked domain.

That way both addresses, secretss.x10hosting.com and secretss.net , will point to the exact same site (if that is what you wanted).
