Domain name point to website on everyDNS

Hi

I am kinda new to DNS. I have my domain name from a provider, say 'ABC'. I have set the nameservers on the provider's page to everyDNS for my DNS management, like CNAME, MX records etc.

Now I am on everyDNS cotrol panel. How do Iget my domain name's WWW to point to my website on x10?

Please correct me if I am doing or approaching the problem wrongly. I know I could directly set my nameservers to x10, but I can't since I need everyDNS as I have google apps on my domain and its mapped there.

Edit:// Ignore this post. This is the "standard" way of doing DNS, I have never had any other DNS experience using other providers. It probably is a simpler method, however you do get finer control using everyDNS, and sharky's guide (next post) tells you how to use everyDNS and similar to get your domain set up.

You should set your nameservers with 'ABC' to the x10 nameservers, then you can add your domain on cpanel using "Addon Domains" or "Parked domains". The former makes a separate site on your x10 account, the latter simply causes the domain to point to your current content.

The nameservers are:
ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

I'm not sure about everyDNS, but you generally don't need any other services to get your domain up and running with X10.

Edit: it seems you can also use everyDNS to point to X10 -- see the post below by sharky. However it is much simpler to do all dns tasks with the X10 system in my opinion, since it can then control domains, email etc. from one place.

Not quite, ah-blabla. That's exactly what he's saying he doesn't want. Please read the entire post before going straight to the generic 'set the name servers to this' response.

This is the same setup I have, except mine's with 1&1 instead of easyDNS.
Ping the server that you're hosted on (eg., if you're on Stoli, ping stoli.x10hosting.com), then set the DNS 'A' record to that IP address. I have never used easyDNS before so can't tell you specifics. Then you have to add the domain via cPanel as parked or addon.

Would I be right in assuming your domain name provider doesn't offer any decent setup pages, then, leonspace? Sucks somewhat if you're having to pay for an additional service.

Sharky, I think will try the A record way doing it. Will update you guys as it goes. My domain provider does have domain setup and control pages but their entire portal is being re-developed from scratch and all their dns management is being done by means of support tickets at the moment. I, on the other hand, prefer that I manually control that stuff, which is why I decided to use the services of everyDNS. Besides, everyDNS is actually not a paid service. It's free and pretty good from what I have heard.
