I'm going to change my domain name, but first I have to know which of them are available (some of them are blocked, at least that's what a member of the customer support told me). Or to save your time, is there anywhere a list of blocked domains so I could check it myself?

What is your point?


You want to change your domain name.

--> That is ok.

To check the domain availability you can use the domainlazy.com, It is easier to check the domains availability.

Select the available domain names yourself and purchase it from recommended domain registrar like godaddy.com, internetbs.net etc..

--> Set the domain name servers

ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

* The names servers propagation may take 24 to 48 hours.

--> Park the domain name or change the primary domain.

My point is, some time ago I wanted to use the domain thespy.ath.cx, but nothing worked. After hours of brainstorming I contacted a customer support. he told me that the domain ath.cx is blocked and won't work (it gave random PHP errors etc).

I don't think that we block particular domains from being used with our servers. You can try again, and if you get an error again, be sure to copy and paste it here.

But we can't search domain names availability for you right. You have to do some research on that.

Hi,
Your website is being blocked by mod_security for the following reason:
Matched phrase "ath.cx" at REQUEST_HEADERS:Referer. [msg "Blacklist Referer Spam"] [severity "CRITICAL"].
ath.cx is being blocked by mod_security, you can try getting a .co.cc domain or an x10hosting subdomain (You can change your primary domain from your Account Management Panel).

Any reason you're trying to use that domain? I would just go with Fedlerner's advice.

There's no reason, these are just domains that dyndns.com offers.

But maybe I'll switch over to co.cc.

I see the Co.CC domain as more professional, as it's a lot shorter and doesn't include some random words in the URL.
