Hi guys. I don't understand what I could be doing wrong because I created 4 email accounts and none of them are working after my domain name has been transferred the other day. I have tried to access the email account with outlook and also by the web viewer. I also have a problem with the site. If I use http://cebusmart.com it will display my index page but if I use http://www.cebusmart.com it shows an error 404. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Both of those links are '404 - Page not found for me'.
Name server prorogation can take up to 72 hours. But I think the problem in this case is you seem to have deleted the /public_html/ folder ?

Hi. I am really sorry if I wrote too many messages. I am very new to this and I just panicked when I couldn't access our site or email. I didn't see any reply to this message by Corey. In your message you wrote that I deleted my public directory, but I found all of my file under public_ftp. As far as I know, I didn't delete or move anything so I would appreciate your help if you can resolve the problem. I had a webdisk created to copy and replace files on this computer but that also isn't working. I will be the first to admit that I am probably responsible for messing something up, but I think I would have known if I deleted an entire directory of files. Can you please advise me on what I need to do to fix it? I reassigned the domain name a few days ago and then uploaded all new files last night and that is when I couldn't access anything anymore. My wife suggested that when I logged in and changed from X10hosting domain to our own domain that I should have entered www.cebusmart.com instead of cebusmart.com that I entered. Is she right? If I have to wait several days before the change takes effect, can you tell me when I should check back? If the directory is really missing then how come I can see all the files in the public_html folder that is a subfolder of public_ftp? As I mentioned earlier, I don't want to be too much trouble to you guys, but I am new at this so I would appreciate it if you could bear with me for just a bit while I am in my "learning" curve. So far, you guys have been great in helping me out. Thanks.

Fixed.
All I had to do was move the public_html folder up to your account's home folder and change the permissions on the folder to 755.

Thanks. I really appreciate your help. So, when should I check to with www.cebusmart.com to see if it is working? I don't want to do anything significant until I am sure the domain stuff is completed. How would I know when it's already finished the transfer process?

Thanks.

Try it now, see if it's working for you. It seems to be working fine for me.

Hi Luke. I see everything including my email is working now, but I just have one more problem to resolve. It seems that since the changeover, my pictures won't display. Is there something wrong with my image folder. I thought the images folder should be in the same directory as my other public_html files, but when I access www.cebusmart.com everything comes in fine except all the pics. Is the problem on my end or is there something wrong with the files? I really appreciate how you guys fixed up everything during my changeover.

Thanks again,

Dave

Ok the images are in this directory -> http://www.cebusmart.com/images/

But in your code they are linked to like this
HTML:
<img src=". . /Images/alegre resort.jpg"

which should be this
HTML:
<img src="/images/alegre_resort.jpg"

Not the underscore in place of the space.

Hi guys. I am wondering what we are doing wrong. We have placed all of our pages in the public_html directory and also the www directory and we are not really sure which one we should be uploading our files too. When we create our pages in dreamweaver 8 and upload them they are not appearing the same. For example, we uploaded exactly the same index file to both directories, but when we access http://cebusmart.com the page is different from the index file displayed when we access www.cebusmart.com. We are new at this and I am just wondering if we should only be uploading to one of these directories or both? How long should it take for the freshly uploaded page to be accessible? Is there some delay time after the file is uploaded before it takes effect? We always delete the old page file before uploading the new one just to be sure, but we are lost about why the new page is not displayed. I have also used the form generator to create a form we would like users to submit to us via email. Which directory should we place all those files in and will our version of php support the form we are using for feedback? You guys have been really great with support and we really appreciate it alot. We'll certainly be rewarding x10hosting with a paid account as soon as we start generating some income with our on line sales. Thanks again.

The /www is just a shortcut to the /public_html/ directory. So if you are uploading to both then you are just overwriting each time.
I recommend you use a FTP client like FileZilla. Also there is no need to delete the file before because it will just get overwritten.
Both the links look exactly the same to me. Once a file is uploaded to the server that file is accessible.
Maybe the files are cached.
Try clearing your cache and then refresh the page.
