Error establishing a database connection with wordpress site

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me with my wordpress install. My website was recently hacked and I had to do a restore of my wordpress from backup. Ever since the restore I keep getting an error message "
Error establishing a database connection"
when attempting to visit my restored site.

I have verified that I changed the sql database passage as well as username and pw to match in the config file but it seems no matter what I do, I can't get web page to display.

My domain for my website is mcr.x10host.com or mcrdetroit.com

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Ok, so now it seems that I was able to finally get in by creating a new sql database and user however, now that I've restored my files, all my posts, uploads, etc are missing. I'm assuming this is because the information for these items were stored in the original sql database that no longer exists. Is there any way to restore a sql database?
