I'm having the same issue described in post #6 here:

I also don't see any wear characters in my global.php file.
I've done the code modification suggested by Bryon. I used notepad to do this.
Can you guys tell me what's wrong?
EDIT: Resolved!!!!!!!!!! I took the original global.php file, and did the code changes again using WordPad this time. Thank you. I hope this helps other people having the same issue.
