Hi All

I hope someone can help !!!

Have noticed recently that my event viewer is reporting hundreds of event id 4201 - the network connection has been disconnected and then reconnected. This is happening everyday now at random times.

Does anyone have any ideas.

OS is XP sp3

Well just to let you know. It was a faulty switch that was causing this problem.

Faulty switches can and do happen. I know that some cheapo routers have the tendency to reboot after some time which can also have the same effect that you saw; the network disconnecting and reconnecting. This mainly happens on cheapo routers with the wireless, or if you make enough connections to crash the firmware (which isn't too hard to do! Get Steam and fire up the server list. It'll choke 70% of the routers you come across! Or running Torrents to!).

By the way, is this switch you had serving Gigabit and 100Mbps Ethernet? I know that switches only like one kind of speed and you'll see problems with switches when you have a variety of link speeds on them, unlike routers which cope with those kinds of things.
