exec() disabled

I am trying to use a image compression plugin for my wordpress blog and it's telling me that exec() is not enabled.

Can that [exec()] be enabled on my account or do I need to find another plugin that don't require that?

short answer is - yes

do to the large security risk - for free-hosting accounts - x10hosting has disabled (blocked) these PHP Functions --> [exec] - [shell_exec] - [enable dl] - [system] - [passthru] - [phpinfo]

To expand the answer, allowing you to use functions like exec() is like allowing SSH access. This is free web shared hosting so people can end up performing malicious tasks on te entire server holding many accounts if it were to be enabled. And we're talking about anyone.
There's a lot more to it, but it's best to have just this up.
