Hey, I was just wondering how free hosting sites who offer adfree space manage to continue operating (beyond donations)? given that other providers can charge quite a lot for fairly similar services.

We offer paid hosting also. It along with the revenue from the ads contribute to the operation costs of x10. But it is very well known that Corey the owner has paid for most of it from his own pocket.
So a big ups to Corey for providing one of the best free services around
