Hello, I just joined today and im kind of new to the kind of hosting at x10 - i previously used freewebs and bravenet, which were for novices and had a built in publisher ect.

I was wondering if you werent busy, if you could just give me a few directions on how you can use the features of x10. I do not need to know how to upload, ive conected my computer to the server, i just need to know how to use the other features.

Thanks!

the program is called cpanel that they use. basically it allows you to check out stats, add domains (if u own them) and etc... there are automatic script installers too

There is a thing in cPanel called Fantastico that already has scripts installed. All you have to do is put in the info.

Here's a quick run-through, if you know the info, just ignore it.

cPanel: Features many tools, such as adding email accounts, ftp accounts, MySQL databases and usernames (with phpMyAdmin), checking your site hits and statistics, and Fantastico.
You can enter cPanel by going to: http://yourdomain.x10hosting.com/cpanel or http://yourdomain.x10hosting.com:2082. Your username and password can be found in your application acception email.

Fantastico: Automatically installs many scripts very fast. A typical installation just requires you enter a name for a database and a username/password for the program.

phpMyAdmin: A tool you can use to manage your MySQL Databases. It's not exactly for beginners, but I don't expect you'll need to use it anyways. If you do, however, you'll use it for looking at the contents of your database or editing them. It's useful.

I'd add more, but it's growing late and I am tired. I hope that this helped :)

i think you are seeing the directory list instead of your website because you have no page called index.html or index.htm
Try renaming your theindex.htm to one of the above.

good luck mate

Make a index and upload into the public_html folder for people to be able to see the HTML/PHP documents correctly in their browsers.

Thanks for helping, but now i cant actually access cpanel, let alone test to see if it works out... when i enter the url, and enter the right password, it just goes to a page that says "Unactivated License File". I dont know why, ive put adverts on both of the only tester pages... could anybody explain what this means?

Could you PM me your username and password and url? Myself and an admin are working this out.

EDIT: Nevermind the server had some problems with cPanel. Keep checking News and Annoucements for the latest.
