I saw a thread that said that we are not allowed to provide our members with a file upload form, but I didn't find anything in the TOS regarding this.
Can somebody show me where this is stated?
And can somebody tell me which, if any, of the following circumstances would be allowed?

1. Allowing users to upload avatars on a hosted IPB forum.
2. Allowing users to upload small files (I can restrict them to any size I want) to be attached to the post, which will not parse on the server.
3. Allowing forum ADMINs ONLY to upload in circumstances 1 or 2 if they are not allowed (I'm the only current Admin, but I may have one or two others in the future.)
4. Allowing members to upload to an image gallery (like Coppermine.)
5. Allowing members access to an FTP account.

Thanks.

Personal account holders are not permitted resell, store or give away web-hosting services of their website to other parties. Web hosting services are defined as allowing a separate, third party to host content on the owner's web site.
4) Not allowed
5) Not allowed

Then I have a few question:
Why don't you remove the image galleries from the installer in cPanel? And why do you offer more than one FTP account?
And why, if I'm using an image gallery that was installed using Fantastico, can't users upload?

This makes no sense.

Edit: And they aren't hosting in the common sense of it. They're merely using services I provide which stay on my website and are regulated by me.

Removing stuff from fantastico is rather annoying, I've been told elsewhere (not on x10).

But it's their job, annoying or not, if they restrict the main use of those things.

Edit: Regardless, I want a manager to review this and hear from them what is allowed, and why certain things aren't that should be allowed.

Edit again: Let me note that I don't intend to host any type of free image or file host. What I want is the ability to host a gallery where the users of my forum can post images of theirs via upload, and perhaps the hosting of select small files, which will not harm the servers or take advantage of the service, via an upload form in the post. Will I be allowed either of these things?
Oh, and am I allowed to assign one or two other admins to my site, and grant them FTP access?

Edit, yet again: The forum is not public, either. It is used only by members of my guild on World of Warcraft. As soon as members are removed from the guild, their files would be deleted.

some very good questions!

i guess x10hosting can be held liable for any content free-hosted on their servers found to be illegal so they're just safeguarding themselves and who wouldn't :)

though all i can really see with the contraints of the TOS aside (obvious and transparent clauses) that the free hosting packages are only suitable for blogs, imageless forums/wikis, reference sites, and e-commerce

Well, I hope I can get some permission to host the way I want. My forum's not public and it'll be a bit strict, so it shouldn't be a problem.
I love what x10 offers, and these support forums are nice, like a little community. I really don't want to have to leave, and I really hope they let me do at least a little of what I want to do.

I might be wrong, but i believe that this is ok if you review the images to filter out pornography and stuff. But check it first.
5. Allowing members access to an FTP account.
This is fine if they are just downloading, uploading is not allowed

According To Corey This Is Ok Under Special Circumstances So You’d Have To Run The site Procedures By Him. For Example: My Gallery Is Setup So Only Members Over A Certain Level May Upload Pictures. It has a Admin Gallery Page Where Administrators/ Certain Moderators Can Delete The Images If found To Be Offensive In Anyway And The Member Who Uploaded The Picture Is Then Disciplined According To The Degree Of The Offence. eg: Warning, Demotion, 24 Hour Ban, Life Time Ban.

5. Allowing members access to an FTP account.
This is fine if Main Members are just downloading, uploading By Main Members is not allowed. You Have Multiple FTP Accounts So You Can Create Other Admin/Designers A FTP Account To Help You With Maintaining Your Site. That How I understand It to Be.

Are 1, 2 and 3 allowed?
And about restrciting: Like I said, the forum isn't public and the gallery won't be either. Anyone who posts anything against policy would get an immediate ban or very lengthy suspension.

Trixt, are you sure I can assign more Admins?

Edit: Am I allowed to PM Corey about this, or should I just wait for him to see the post?

1. I believe this should be allowed.
2. I am not entirely sure, but I think it is allowed.
3. You are allowed other admins, but they may not upload to the main account. This means that they can maintain forums etc and delete posts, but they cannot upload, only download I believe. The files being downloaded must not have any copyright on them, otherwise this classes agains the TOS. E.G. MP3's
4.A coppermine gallery is allowed. Again images I believe must be below a certain file size or something, and they must not have any copyright.
5. Can download but not upload. The main account is the property of the owner and only he/she is allowed to upload to it, no one else.

I hope this has clarified a few things.

Admins will correct me if I am wrong. I believe you should just wait for Corey or another Admin/AM/Moderator to come accross this thread.

Regards,
Zenax

Thanks.
And can an Admin clarify the ones he wasn't sure about.
And is there any way I might be allowed to grant upload access to somebody in certain situations, like if I'm away and something needs to be fixed? And can't I grant upload access to somebody that is helping me design my pages?
