Hi...

I am on vacation for a couple of weeks. I have been getting to the internet through public libraries, but everyone so far seems to be blocking my cpanel, and they also do not allow ftp access. Is there any other method available to get files to my site? Like some sort of HTTP interface?

Thanks

thanks chris for the info...

I am not sure about the proxy solution though. Is that something that I can do on my laptop while connected to the net via the public library's WiFi connection? If so please explain or give me something that I can Google.

Thanks again.

You could put something like eXtplorer on your website, it is a web based file manager that works quite well. All you would need to do once you've uploaded it is login from any computer and edit your files.

Hey TechAsh thanks for the tip..

Question for either of you though... With net2FTP using the only FTP info for my site that I have with me.. it gets me to a directory that only contains the file .ftpquota and I cannot go up from there. I created the dir for eXtplorer and uploaded all the files there.

Can someone explain how I can navigate to my www directory with net2FTP? Or could someone move the eXtplorer dir to my www dir so I can run it?

Thanks for all your help guys...

You should rather be looking for the '/public_html/' folder. I have not used net2FTP but it looks like it should work. Set it to passive mode.

Hey Defec Talisman... thanks for trying to help...

Net2FTP does work in that it gets me to my FTP dir, but it seems to be treating the FTP directory as the ROOT and I cannot move up from there.
Here is a screen shot of what shows in Net2FTP... the go up a level has no effect and I assume it is because this is the ROOT.

Can someone tell me how to fix this? or could someone move the folder eXtplorer to my public area so I can see if it will work as advertised?

Thanks for all your help

Bob

OK guys... I have the FTP part working now...

I am still curious about getting to my CPANEL and what Chris mentioned about a proxy... I only kinda know what that means but not how to go about it, or if it is even possible..

Can someone tell me if it is possible to do from my laptop and if so how?

Thanks for everyone's help.

Bob
