I've got an /uploads directory where my friend and I are both able to upload audio files to be streamed.

Every few days, the files that he has uploaded vanish into thin air. They'll be there for a few days and then they're gone. It's especially perplexing to me because all the files I've personally uploaded have never disappeared.

The only difference I can think of is the fact that his files are created on a Mac while mine are created in Linux.

Any clues or suggestions as to why this may be happening?

The URL is http://feelfinefeelingfine.com/uploads - the subdirectory "/volunteerdepartment" is where his files are being uploaded, and disappearing after a matter of time. The subdirectory "/mtmoontheescaperope" is where I upload my files that always stay put.

I'd really appreciate any help with this issue.

x10hosting now deletes files 10 MiB (or larger) in size - that have been on the server (in any folder) for more than about 4 hours - from non-upgraded free-hosting accounts only

the 4 hours time limit allows users to upload and extract site backups - and is not for short term file hosting...

you can store files that are 10 MiB or larger - at a file-hosting service (which x10hosting free-hosting is not) then link to them from your free-hosting Web page

see --> 'Terms of Service' (TOS) at [ File Storage ] --> [ https://x10hosting.com/legal/terms-of-service ]

Oh wow. Thanks for the quick reply! That explains everything. I'll find a workaround now that I know exactly what it is. Thanks again.
