here is a fun thing i found out. If you just type a word in the adress bar without http://, www or a domainthing like .com then you often come to a page about it. Like x10hosting goes to x10hosting.com and flatearth goes to http://www.impossiblygood.com/ etc. Sometimes you come to google. I think this only works in firefox.

It's in opera too. It's quite nice, but sometimes it sends you to something irrelevant.

I think that depends on your browser settings,
so when you type only words like yahoo or sth else than the browser take you to the best alternative and if google is ur default search engine it takes u to the google search with results of the term u typed in address bar,
isn't that ?

O..Oh!.. When you enter something in FireFox, it sends the Query to Google. If it seems that the First page is very relevant, or the domain / product / service name is searched for, you'll be re-directed to first result page. Else, you'll be taken to Google Search Results page.

For example, if you just enter "Google AdSense" or "Yahoo Groups", you'll be taken to the login page of respective product/service.
