there isn't an outgoing firewall on the paid servers, just on the free. 993 should be open. ill bug an admin about it and see.

It would be really helpful if you could find that out for me.

Thanks

i asked and it seems that 993 is blocked to help fight spam. I tried to ask if any other ports were open but they kind of ignored me

This is wrong. We have firewalls on every server of ours, and all ports that are not explicitly in use by use are closed, both inbound and outbound.

Bryon,

Is port 993 blocked in the free account? If it is closed is it open in any of the paid accounts?

Thanks

Yes, it is closed.

No, it is not open on paid accounts.

What do you need port 993 for?

hmm i remember a different response some time ago. Could of changed since then or im just crazy.

Port 993 is imap4 protocol over TLS/SSL
Port 995 is pop3 protocol over TLS/SSL

my question now is 995 open or not :p

port 993 is used for imap access with ssl.
port 995 is for pop3 access with ssl.

I am building an application that reads mail. i cannot use pop3 access for what i'm trying to do (yes supermatthew, port 995 i open, i tried working on that).

x10 is one of the few hosting sites that has imap extension for php on the server and i desperately need it. Is there no way to unblock port 993. PLEASE:biggrin:
Edit:
Any ideas if there is any option to get imap working on port 993?
