The problem is:

It seems I can't get rid with the problem. Everything seems to be in working order though.

Well I tried the steps mentioned but I had to create a new user since all the users that I have created before vanished. Until now the problem still persists.

Have you created users with same user name and password i.e. used to communicate with the mysql from forum application.
