FTP access issue since account suspension

My hosting account was recently suspended as I had not logged into cPanel for or over a month. I logged in, requested un-suspension and my account was re-activated.

However, ever since this, I have been unable to use my FTP account. I have tried more than one FTP utility but they all get the same results. Looking at the FTP logs I can see that my user is able to logon to the FTP server but it fails to retrieve a directory listing.

From FileZilla:
Error: Connection timed out
Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

I assume that this is an FTP configuration issue but I cannot find any way of checking this. To see if it was the FTP user account, I created a new FTP account but this had the same issue.

Hi Steve,

Could there be anything interfering with your connection, such as a proxy, firewall, etc? What hostname and username are you logging in with?

I seem to have managed to connect to the server on Friday 5th and upload my whole website. However, the connection was intermittent at first. Later on Friday I could not connect properly again.

Today Saturday, I can get the directory listing but only for 1 in 10 attempts.

Looking at the logs,the Ftp logon works ok on every attempt but the server does not respond with the directory listing before it times out in most cases.

Ok, I think that I have found the problem. The link below will help anyone in the UK using a BT home hub. Looks like a recent firmware update caused the issue.
