ftp confusion

I'm a little confused by the ftp directions vs what I see in cpanel.

I have a redirected site, say, mysite.com attched to my x10 account. the directions say I should set my ftp to ftp.mysite.com...

However, when I go to ftp accounts in cpanel, it tells me (to add an additional account) to set to ftp.myx10acct.x10hosting.com

My question is whether or not these are separate areas. If I upload to myx10acct.x10hosting.com, is that the same as if I uploaded to mysite.com? Will files ULd to one be accessible to the other/both? Or are they two, entirely unrelated directories?

Any elucidation appreciated

Oh, as long as I have someone important's attention, I tried to add a comment to the Knowlegebase "How do I have my domain name point to my website?" article, and the captcha image was not appearing; thus, I could not add my comment...
