My login problem seems to not have been a problem after all. For whatever reason I can log into Cpanel, just not my account management page. Anyway, onto my other issue.
I downloaded coreftp and used the provided config file no muss no fuss, yet the program cannot establish a connection. I used both versions of the config file to be sure. I checked the service status, and ftp on the server is "supposedly" up, so that means the issue is on my end. Core FTP has firewall permissions, so that shouldn't be the problem.
Can you folks provide any hints?
