FTP Problem

i cant access my files through ftp! its showing an empty root directory. getting permission denied when i try to change directory.

ftp> cd /public_html
550 Can't change directory to /public_html: Permission denied

yeah.. but not without problem! missing GD!!

the only way I found to get to my files is through cPanel

but all my Email accounts and Forwarders are gone and I receive errors
when I try to replace them
