Hi. According to the service summary FTP is in full working order, yet I can't access mine.
Using run > ftp http://www.vbgm.x10hosting.com gives "Unknown host http://www.vbgm.x10hosting.com."
SmartFTP gives: [20:13:04] SmartFTP v3.0.1019.8
[20:13:04] Connect failed. Waiting to retry (30s)...

Thoughts/suggestions?

Many thanks

Have you ever been able to connect to your website before? Also, have you disabled multiple connections in your FTP client? It's possible you've recieved a temporary (1 hour long) IP ban for using multiple connections. Don't worry, it'll unblock you automatically soon ;).

I've had my account for about 3 years, so yes, the occasional connection has been made :p

Also, I haven't changed any multiple-connectiony stuff.

I'll do that in a moment, however it says:
You see the following error in the log:
Resolving host name "xxx"
Connecting to xxx Port: 21
Connected to xxx

I'm not even getting that far. Apparently the host cannot be found.

You'll need to wait for the ban to lift before it'll work I'm afraid, it should only be an hour long, I believe.

Would you not be able to lift the ban using an admin CP?
Is it my IP that's banned or is it all FTP access?

I can't lift it, I only have access to the account management stuff (hence the title of Account Manager ;)). The bans aren't that long, and you might still have cPanel access. If not, I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do; although if I could reverse the IP ban for you I would.

Okeydokey. I still have cPanel access and I've been uploading my neccessary files via the Legacy File Manager.
Also I didn't realize you were an AM, I just assumed you were a general admin. "King of the Typos" is funny, but doesn't explain your role as a senior member of these boards.

Thanks for your help though.

24 hours later and still no workies.
Would this have anything to do with the fact my site's MySQL is also down? It has been for about a week now, I just assumed it was a server update gone wrong or something.

Unfortunately, that's not the case.
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'viperb_admin'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/viperb/public_html/mysql.php on line 3

I'll post up a new thread about that though, this is about my FTP access (that I still don't have)

Remove the http:// from before the actual subdomain, so your host is just vbgm.x10hosting.com. I completely missed this before, but that would be the reason it's not working ;). Your username and password for FTP are the same as your cPanel details.

I'm actually posting for a different location now, so I know it's not my IP being banned.
The http:// part isn't there in SmartFTP. I just pasted it onto here because I tried Windows's FTP command with vbgm.x10hosting.com AND http://vbgm.x10hosting.com

Still no worky

Ploease could you try changing your cPanel password via the account managaement panel? Login to http://x10hosting.com/login with your forum username and password, and at the top left of that page is a section where you can change your cPanel password. Once you've entered a new password, click confirm hosting details. Once it's complete, try logging in to FTP again.
