there is possibly a way to change the background or font color -
not too sure about your script, but some like Drupal allow one to do some customization to Captcha. ... Such a question could find a quick answer in their support forums I think.

Are you sure you are using the latest version of MyBB? I am using 1.2.9, and I never had a problem, except that I had to comment out the exec lines for server load.

Kames, I changed your PHP version. This should fix the issues you were having with it blocking functions.

Yeah I am using the lastest version. 1.2.9
