Hello all,

Gmail is one of the most widely used email services, and it is important to ensure that the data stored in Gmail is protected. I'm wondering what measures other Gmail users are taking to Gmail backup, and if you have any recommendations for best practices or solutions to use for this task.

What are the best practices for backing up Gmail emails? Are there any tools or solutions that you have found to be particularly effective for backing up Gmail? Are there any specific settings or configurations that you recommend when it comes to backing up Gmail?

I'd love to hear about your experiences and any advice you have for others looking to backup their Gmail emails. Thanks in advance for your insights!

Gmail is recently frowning on pop and smtp usage and have stopped 3rd party client support.
forcing people to log into their website to check email.
for many this is a big issue causing them to seek other email sources that provide free smtp and pop options.
for some they might be able to live with Gmail's choice to do that.

Some of the methods that you can use to backup your Gmail data:

1. Google Takeout: Google Takeout is an official service by Google that allows users to download a copy of their Gmail data. It enables you to select specific categories of data, such as emails, attachments, and labels, for backup. The downloaded data is provided in a downloadable ZIP file.

2. Email Clients and Apps: Using email clients like Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail, or email backup apps like Thunderbird, you can configure your Gmail account to sync and download emails to your local device. This ensures that your emails are stored offline and accessible even without an internet connection.

3. Automated Backup Software: You can use backup software that's designed to automatically back up Gmail accounts on a regular basis. Such software often offers features like selective backup, scheduling, and secure cloud storage options.
