Great host and an even better service, but a touch too slow...

I remember signing up to x10hosting a few years ago and back then I considered it to be one of the best free web hosts on the internet. I see over that period of time nothing has changed and the staff continue to deliver on their promises by providing the best services to free users.

But I did encounter an issue this time around. My site is taking too long to load at times. Right now it's not too bad. It's 7AM here in Australia and it takes a web page a few seconds to load. But last night, between 6PM to 12PM the speed was unfortunately at a rate which made browsing impractical. I'd say it took between 10 seconds to 30 seconds to load...

I was wondering, is it normal for there to be hours where the free websites come to a halt? Or has this only happened recently due to the relocation of servers? How about paid users? If I paid for my hosting would the speed increase? I was initially planning to, but as it stands I'm having second thoughts as I'm not too sure of the performance of my website.

Once again, great service only to be slightly hampered by loading times.

Free hosting is always affected by random server slowness because of the number of users on each server.

Paid hosting here is completely different. There are far less users and much less abuse. Paid hosting also comes with a 99.9% Uptime Guarantee.

Affected by the number of users? No sir. Abusive people is the cause generally the cause.

That's good to know (about the paid hosting). If I ever feel the need to transform this project into something bigger, then I'd probably pursue that option.

I make great sense! I am sorry for the confusing wording of what I said previously. What I was trying to say is that problems with uptime are almost always the result of abusive users.

It might be worth your while optimising your site - it may not be perfect but theres always a few lines of code that aren't needed any more, and a few images that you don't need. Just an idea :)
