I prefer writing something more interesting than just the next person's name. That way we get to find out a little bit more about them, or can even hold a long-winded form of conversation.

Nope, I (at least used to) use the quote quite a lot. Some people got mad at that on another forum, so I've stopped using quite so much. ;D
