I opened a support ticket and received this response:
This is caused by XSS attacks, normally. If you allow users to post content to your website and you do not prevent <script> tags, your site will appear differently, but your files will remain unchanged.
I am unsure of what software you are using to generate your webpage. You should follow your software author's instructions on how to delete user content directly from the database or file system.

My question and request to the community is - can anyone advise me on how to delete user content directly from the database or file system? I am using Dreamweaver 8.
I haven't got a clue how to sort out this sordid little problem. I thought that the problem would be cured from the hosting company; as it is a security issue! As far as I am concerned I have not agreed to allow users to post content to my website!
Please help if you can - thanks.
