I think that creating a layout is the hardest part. Not really the most creative person, but I manage without templates. Also, scripting is hard :)mad:) when there is a bug you cannot find, but otherwise it is pretty easy.

Damn, how did you guys ever manage something like 1000 per month or 500 a day? Seems impossible to me, lol. What are your sites on? I have something personal going for me, but just if in theory I began a site with a specific focus (such as a gaming site), how would I attract visitors?

Advertising, simply advertising. Plus it requires a LOT of patience. When I first hit 100, I nearly fell out of my chair because I was so excited! Now 100 is almost nothing! By the way, I run a gaming site. ;)

Designing and Developing the site is the fun part...
Its getting people besides my friends (and fellow Skulltag players) to view it that's the hard part.

By far I'd say the hardest part of any website ever is getting people to visit your site. You could have the best site in the world but if you don't flog it enough nobody will know about it.

If you've ever made a site for somebody else, you will know that they will change their minds about a million times over the layout - each time forcing you to re-think your colour scheme, re-order your carefully placed divs/tables etc and spend hours in photoshop. Then when you finally have created a layout you are proud of, they change their minds again...
That is so frustrating!

Yeah. I hate divs and tables, by the way. Can't stand them. Which is unfortunate for me, because I'm too lazy to write my own code when I can use the editor, which relies on div tags.

putting the layout and colors to suit the taste of the client is the hardest part to do.

I've found that the layout and traffic are the toughest, I personally find the layout difficult as I have no knowledge of advanced HTML or CSS. Traffic is an entirely different matter, there's not really much you can do except use LOTS of tags. And use things like "sex" and "porn" as tags, even though it's kind of cheating ;)
Please remember that this is Crossfire, so if you're going to post you should elaborate.

Yes.The hardest part is the idea.If the idea really is good enough then
people should easily want to visit the site.Other than that I find tweaking
databases and getting them working to be the hardest part.
It often depends on the server settings what should be easy enough. What will immediatly work on one server won't work on another right away.

Definitely to get people to visit, especially on many forums there is a "no personal site advertising" rule.

For me it is finding a template that fits my needs.
This can take time.
The rest is fairly easy.

Getting people to visit is the hardest. The runner up is logo design - if you want something really different it takes forever to get a good concept.
