Hi. I need some help on pointing my domain to a new basic (free) account on x10Hosting.

I have created the free accont xxxxx.x10host.com. Then, I try to add a separate domain with my own domain.
When I do that, I receive following message:
Unable to add the domain name − Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver.

My domain server does not allow to modify nameservers, so I try the second option, although I am not sure if I am doing it right. I'll tell you what I do:

I find my domain server nameservers and their IPs. Then, I create a text file named ips.remotedns which only contains those IPs. I upload that file (ips.remotedns) to the 'etc' folder in my x10 account.
Later, I modify the A-DNS in my domain server to point to my x10 account IP.

However, it does not work. I still get the same error message "unable to add the domain name". Help!

Hi delicia4,

For security reasons, cPanel checks that your domain is pointing to our nameservers before you can create a parked or addon domain. What issue are you having when setting nameservers from your domain registrar? :)

Thank you,

Simply, it is not allowed. My domain server is Strato, and they do not allow to change NSs or to ask them to do it.
I did not know this when I buyed the domain, of course, but now it is too late... :banghead:

I had the same issue in my present hosting (I am trying to migrate to X10 right now), and finally it was solved via A-DNS, so this was the way I was trying now. I hope there will be a solution, I cannot change my domain now...
