user name is bobgalka on lotus

This site has been up and working for quite some time.... The link works but... the action when you click on one of the images in a gallery is that it cross fades from the original photo to the painted version. That is tht part that is "broken"... the original photo shows but just fades to black.

I seem to remember having trouble with this originally and I think I had to request an upgrade to the PHP version... " I am not 100% sure it was this site that need that"

This site is the output from one of the Jalbum templates so it is not something I personally coded.. But it has been working just fine for over a year... so I am going to assume it has something to do with the move to Chicago.... something must have fallen out of the truck on the way.

Thanks for any help with this.

Looks to me like it is looking for a file that isn't there. Are all the files in the correct folders?

OK... I checked and all the images are there... the before as well as the after images... just where they belong...
So... that's not the problem. But thanks for eliminating one possibility. ;O)

Bob

Ther are javascripts involved if that could be a problem.....

Well the script is trying to reference files that the server is saying aren't there. It looks to me like a configuration problem.
For example:
I am looking at this one
It is finding the file 'http://bobgalka.x10hosting.com/PhotoArt/Animals/slides/Cubby.jpg' just fine.
However, the file 'http://bobgalka.x10hosting.com/PhotoArt/Animals/slides/before/Cubby.jpg' does not exist. This is why they are not showing up.
I do have a fix for it though, the original 'before' files are located in the 'http://bobgalka.x10hosting.com/PhotoArt/Animals/slides/before' folder, but don't have capital letter names. So 'http://bobgalka.x10hosting.com/PhotoArt/Animals/slides/before/cubby.jpg' (notice the non-capital c) does exist and is the one it is looking for. So, it's just a case of changing the case of all the before files to upper-case first letters.

Well I'll go have a look, but the only change to the files lately has been the move of the servers. The site has been working fine a year now.
Thanks for taking the time to help....

Well I tried changing the first char and that is not the problem... but like I said I am not tring to get a new site to work... this has been installed and stable for about a year with no modifications at all. It's only after the move that it stopped working... I was waiting awhile to ask about it because I just figured it was related to all the maintenance going on, and it is not a critical site for me. I think is has something to do with the version of php or java that my account is useing.

You haven't changed the names though. It is still saying 'http://bobgalka.x10hosting.com/PhotoArt/Animals/slides/before/Cubby.jpg' does not exist, but 'http://bobgalka.x10hosting.com/PhotoArt/Animals/slides/before/cubby.jpg' does.
As to the problem, it is possible that the server was in case-insensitive mode prior to the updates and is now case-sensitive.

Well... yea I did change it but didn't see any difference so I changed it back... (I never get a message saying image does not exist though). I looked at the source code and yea it wanted Cubby.jpg so I renamed that one... there was one other that needed changing. I went through all the gallerys and they all now show the before image.. if only breifly... but never show the after image. So I still think that it has something to do with my PHP or Java settings. Later today I will regen the slide show and reup it and let you know the result.

Again thanks for taking the time to help me with this.

Well now this is interesting... apparently the problem is not with X10hosting... I downloaded firefox and it worked fine. Now the only other thing that has changed is that I got a new compter from Dell with Windows 7 installed. Of course it is using IE8, but I also have a laptop with XP and IE8 and the slideshow works fine on the laptop. I looked at the internet setting on both computers and couldn't find anything reallly different.
There is and option under the internet settings on the Windows 7 machine that says enable protected mode that i don't see on the XP laptop, but I turned it on and off with no difference.

The slideshow was created with Jalbum (jalbum.net) and is also hosted there... same problem... dosesn't work with IE8 on the new Windows 7 machine, but works fine with the XP IE8 laptop... ?????

Any suggestions or thoughts on what is going on???

thanks again

It is now working fine here. It is possible that Internet Explorer is automatically turning the whole url lower case, hence why the upper case file names cannot be found. I can't think of anything else, unless it is something unrelated. IE is very well known for problems.

I don't think so.. It works on my laptop using IE8... but that is XP, this new machine is Win 7... only difference that I know of. I'll keep checking the internet settings....

thanks

OK... it works now... while on the site I went to the IE8 tools menu and checked Compatibility mode and it works... I don't know what about the code that requies it, but it does work.... Now I have to try to figure out how to change the code to avoid the necessity.

thanks again...
