Hi.

I created a sub-domain called aio16 (I know the brain power to think that one up). Now when I try to install say Kunena 1.6.2 via upload, or an uncompressed package in my tmp directory I get different errors each time such as the white screen of death telling me that the server is unavailable, or I get a fatal error.

Now with the new version of Joomla there is a warning tab which will tell me if there are issue's with my Joomla/server setup, and it does have one warning.

1. The PHP temporary directory is not set. (Small warning header)

Extended: The PHP temporary directory is the directory that PHP uses to store an uploaded file before Joomla! can access this file. Whilst the directory not being set isn't always a problem, if you are having issues with manifest files not being detected or uploaded files not being detected, setting this in your php.ini file might fix the issue.
-------------------

Now the default tmp directory is /public_html/aio16/tmp which by all rights is correct, but I sometimes get some serious fatal errors, so I decided in my global configuration to set the temp directory as /public_html/tmp which is my main domain tmp path ( I also changed it in my globals in my joomla configuration), and I mostly get the 'server temporarily unavailable' error'.

So for now I can't upload, or use the tmp directory to install any extensions in Joomla 1.6 (sub-domain)...

I hope I said this correctly. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, and take care everyone.

Hi everyone.

I guess you can send this topic to the wastebin. For some reason or other things have cleared up, and everything is fine. The server is very snappy, the website works great.

Must have been gremlins in the system or something.

Cheers, and take care everyone.
