I'm here to request a space upgrade!

Actually, I'm pretty sure I had it before, because now I'm using 581 / 512 megabytes available!
I don't need a lot more space, but I can't make any new directories or upload any photos because I have no disk space.

If for some reason I am not eligible, please let me know what I can do to remedy that.
Thank you!

Hi, we do not allow file hosting.

  • File Storage: Accounts are not to be used for file storage, your account will be permenantly suspended if found to be breaking this rule. Downloads are only allowed on your x10Hosting account if they have to do directly with your website. e.g. you developed custom software and are selling it or giving it away. Accounts may not be used for mirrors, game file hosting, or any other type of file hosting not specified here.
  • Personal Image and Video Galleries: Personal galleries are limited to 1 GB of disk space for images and videos.

My website isn't for filehosting, it's a website for a local photographer. Any way I can remedy this "file storage" status?
The photographer uploaded a lot of full-size photos initially, but I installed a plug-in that limits the size of uploaded photos.

Sorry for the repost, just wanted to make sure you got my reply. I didn't click the reply button and I wasn't sure if you'd get my message if I didn't actually reply to you. :)

As long as you're staying within the 1gb limit specified in the Terms I don't see any other problems here; the limits have been lifted.

I might suggest you work with the photographer to get the photos down to size.
First, use a software like GIMP (free, much of the same tools as Photoshop) to make the image the dimensions your software actually displays. If the original image is 900x1400 but the html only displays 450x700, then you should shrink your image.

Second, use either GIMP or something like http://www.jpegmini.com/ to use jpeg compression to decrease the file size.

Saves disk space. Saves bandwidth. Your page loads faster for your visitors. The last might be the most important for a commercial site.

I used GIMP to reduce the dimensions in half and then ran it through the free online jpegmini and got a reduction from 618KB to 72KB for:

your original image:

After reduction (still bigger dimensions than what your gallery script actually displays):

Okey-dokey! I'm pretty sure it'll stay under the 1GB limit. :D If not I'll do some cleaning up, but please... e-mail me next time a change is made so I can try and fix any problems? Cheers!
